Why 925 sterling silver can darken
925 sterling silver contains 92.5% silver blended with other metals for strength. Over time, exposure to air, moisture, skin oils, cosmetics, and household chemicals can create tarnish on the surface. Tarnish is a normal material reaction, not proof that the silver is defective.
Everyday care
- Put jewelry on after perfume, hairspray, lotion, and makeup have dried.
- Remove it before swimming, showering, heavy exercise, or using cleaning products.
- After wearing, wipe the surface gently with a clean, soft cloth.
- Avoid pulling fine chains or forcing clasps and hinged details.
How to clean your jewelry
For routine cleaning, use a silver polishing cloth with light pressure. For a deeper clean, mix a small amount of mild soap with lukewarm water, use a very soft brush around textured areas, rinse carefully, and dry the piece completely with a lint-free cloth.
Do not use toothpaste, bleach, rough pads, or abrasive powders. Avoid ultrasonic and chemical dip cleaners unless you have confirmed that they are suitable for every stone and finish in the piece. Strong polishing can also remove the intentionally darkened finish from recessed gothic details.
How to store it
Store each piece separately in a dry pouch or sealed bag to reduce contact with air and prevent scratching. Keep chains fastened and laid flat so they do not knot. Do not leave silver jewelry in a humid bathroom or in direct contact with rubber, household chemicals, or damp fabric.
